Public Relations Manager – Darren Bane

Darren Bane’s Profile

Darren Bane

I have extensive experience of crisis communications from ‘both sides of the fence’.

As a journalist, I conducted countless interviews with everyone from members of the Royal family and politicians to celebrities, police officers, business leaders and members of the public, where appropriate challenging them and holding them to account during difficult times. This gave me the experience to be able to assist organisations, including the emergency services and businesses within the education, care and health sectors, to name a few, with their crisis communications by being able to anticipate how the media will approach any given crisis, and to help organisations to prepare and respond effectively.

I’ve conducted countless regional and national media interviews, print and broadcast, as an organisational spokesperson, often during crisis situations including riots, planned terrorism attacks, major road traffic and weather-related incidents to criminal allegations against members of staff and allegations of positive discrimination against an organisation. I have co-ordinated and led multi-agency responses to crises and provided media skills training and crisis communications training to organisations in a number of sectors.

I hold NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) and CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) qualifications.

At Empica, I am part of a team of experienced professionals with extensive public relations, newspaper and broadcast expertise. We provide innovative on-line public relations services as well as the traditional mainstream media handling. Crisis management and dealing with the media fall-out from major emergencies is a particular strength of the team, including acting as first point of contact 24/7.
